9am saw us assembled at Mt Victoria on the Saturday morning bright eyed & ready to get going, following morning coffee and in some cases breakfast.

The trip started as soon as we hit the bottom of Victoria Pass and turned into Cox River Rd, this lead to the Six Foot Track to Jenolan Caves.

The track was an interesting drive as it was absolutely packed with walkers doing the trip over the long weekend, this lead to some mild animosity between us and the walkers who believe that the track is a walker’s exclusive track. There is some nice camping on the Cox River along this track that would do nicely for a future club W/E trip.

David was keen to try out the Iveco van and was pleased with the way it handled the tracks.

We took longer than expected to traverse the 6Ft Track and this put us a tad behind schedule. Jenolan was so packed we decided to push on to Kanangra Walls for lunch and a sight see. Following lunch we pushed on over the Kowmung River to Dingo Dell.

The light rain made the clay track a little interesting on the steep hills, but nothing too bad that was a huge concern and all got through un-scathed. By the time we came out past Dingo Dell it was decided that it was too late to push on to Yerranderie that night and we made our way to Mt. Werong camp site hoping it was not as full as some sites we had passed, we were in luck and we easily got a nice space for all of us to set up, in fact Michelle & Bert even set up in an old building on the site & did not need to set up the tent. This would be another great location for a club weekend some time, as the site used to be a private house until N.Pks got the site and the house is available to camp in.

Sunday morning we were up and on the road to Wombeyan Caves . The Limeburners track was closed but we followed a parallel track to the Caves that bypassed the closed track & we arrived at the caves by around 10.30 11.00 am and found some sites near each other and set up camp. Some went for cave tours in the afternoon and some relaxed in camp and then found firewood for the fire in the evening.

After dinner on Sunday evening, Cinema TONI screened a movie, “Waking Ned Devine” followed by a wonderful supper of pikelets & jam along with hot cross buns, a great way to end the day, well done Ellen & Michelle and all involved.

Monday morning most of us were booked to do the Wollondilly Cave at 11am that was fantastic.

Broke camp in the afternoon and were on the road by around 2pm. We mostly went our own way home due to differing ideas on Easter traffic. All arrived home safe & sound.

David, thanks for a lovely weekend, this trip has rekindled some ideas for future day & weekend trips.
