The weekend started with Glen and I leaving home early Friday afternoon and after a trip of minimal traffic through the Blue Mountains we drove down into the Wolgan Valley down the newly revamped road which ended at the bottom of the hill.  After a drive along the dusty valley corrugated road, we drove into Newnes to find the Corrimal Caravan Club camped across from the old Pub, guess the road wasn’t so bad after all.  Glen & I arrived at the camping  ground around 3.30ish to find many campers had already claimed their spots.

After setting up, Glen got the fire going and after watching the ever changing colours of the rock faces night soon fell, the heavens were filled with bright stars and a lovely night around the fire was just what was needed after a hectic week.

After a very lazy Saturday morning Pete and Gloria arrived and we left them to set up their camp while Glen and I took a walk up to the old Pub/museum.  On our walk back to camp Ron and Evelyn arrived.  Late Saturday afternoon rain showers started to appear and we move in and out from under our awnings.  Late into the night the showers turn into heavier down pours, it rained most of the night.

We woke Sunday morning to a cool fresh morning which eventually opened up to blue skies.  Glen and I took a lovely brisk walk across the river and headed down toward the ruins, many had camped in lovely bush settings and in places no one thought possible.  Sunday afternoon was a veg afternoon of doing nothing, lots of chats and cups of tea.  As the sun left the camp area mid afternoon the temperature dropped and the fire was lit before time, Sunday night was very cool to say the least, sitting by the lovely fire I had my usual 5 layers plus blanky wrapped around me.

Monday morning we woke to frost and 4 degree’s Celsius, it was cold, Pete got the fire going while Glen and I watched him from our warm bed. After a nice hot breakfast we slowly packed up and left the gang mid –late morning to travel home.

As I announced at the meeting this was a veg weekend and it was exactly that, very relaxing with lovely company.

Hope to see you on the next trip
