Four Wheel Drive NSW & ACT Inc Rydal Weekend 16, 17 & 18 Oct 2009
Attended by Peter & Gloria, Birdy & Chook from Rare Breed, other clubs represented Were Nepean, Dust and Dirt, Extreme 4x4, City of Sydney 4x4 club, Subaru Club, BBM off road, to name just a few, a total of about 20 clubs made a show.
Gloria and I arrived early afternoon on the Friday, and started to set up, only one other family were there at this time, gradually the others started to arrive and set themselves up. As dark began to creep in Fires started to appear and people began to collect around them, soon dinner calls were herd and the numbers thinned. After dinner people started to gather again at the fires because it became bitterly cold. Birdy arrived mid evening, said his hellos and put up his tent. That was about the last of him and Chook for the rest of the night.
Saturday broke bright, clear and mild, around 9:30 drivers meetings were held for the different trips (there were 4 destinations to chouse from) around 10:00 we headed of for Mount Walker, we had a fun drive out, and we had lunch at the base of the last pitch. Some of the drivers had a go, however most of us did not try as it is rough and large loose rocks cover the track. After lunch we headed back to camp by a different route, witch has some very good sections for training, including some good water crossings. Upon return to camp, Gloria and I headed to the Pub and added to the local economy. Saturday night’s entertainment was a trivia night and funds being raised were for Kidney research. It was a great night with some terrific prices (Thanks to Dust & Dirt) that run it.
Sunday morning was great, after breakfast there were some trips if you wanted. We chose to take our time pack up and head off home.
It was a great weekend and thanks to Birdy and Chook also thanks to the association
For holding the camp and I believe it may become an annual event, if so I would like to see a few more club members.
Thanks Pete.
