TRIP REPORT HIGH COUNTRY 1st - 2nd JAN 2010 (Bright) Part 1

As we were all meeting at Bright on 2nd Jan  Peter and I managed to book a room in Bright the day before, also Garry ,Robyn and grandson Josh were also booked at the same Motel.

As we planed an early get away we did not see in the New Year we were in bed for 5.00am get away.

The plan worked well and we set off as planed we had very little traffic and the trip went off without a hitch.

We arrived at the Colonial Inn Bright about 1.30pm, once we were checked in we took a nice easy walk to town and had lunch and a few ales at the pub.

When we arrived back to the motel we met Tony who we found out was booked on a tag a long with Wayne.

Not long after Wayne arrived so out came the “tinnys” and we sat under the Gazebo chatting and waiting for Garry & Robyn.

Around 5pm Garry & Robyn arrived in grand style they made it half way up the drive way and that’s were they stopped. The Motel owner’s were terrific they towed the jeep up the drive and put it out of the way.

A call was placed to the RACV who I might say came in good time.

After much debate it was decided that a new coil was needed to correct the problem. The only place that they  were going to get a coil was at Wodonga as we were discussing how to get this coil it dawned on us that the rest of group were staying at Wodonga so as luck would have it  Michelle & Bert and the group took the trip into Wangaratta and pick up the parts .

After all that was sorted we had Pizzas delivered for dinner then it was off to bed.

Day 2

During the night there had been one almighty storm (so I was told as you all know me I can sleep through anything) although there were signs of this downpour still remaining in the morning.

As it had been such heavy rain Robyn insisted that Garry check the pack on the roof to see if it was dry. Well guess what the waterproof pack was not so waterproof and all the bedding was wet.

Lucky for us it was early in the morning and the Motel had a laundry and Robyn was able to get most of bedding dry. The mattresses were spread out over the luggage and they dried on the trip into camp.

The rest of the trip was done with us all together.

I would just like to say thank you to Michelle &Bert for putting on a terrific trip.

I would also recommend the Colonial Inn on Garvin ST Bright

Happy camping

Gloria & Peter.
